Hi and welcome to my page. Let me tell you a little about myself. I earned a degree in Family and Consumer Science from Iowa State University and have been teaching for 12 years, all in the West Des Moines School District. This is a second career for me, prior, I worked in the corporate world and stayed home with my children for a few years. I've been married to my husband, Mike, for 27 years and we have two sons, Nathan age 22 and Brandon age 18. In my free time I like to scrapbook, read and sew.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching, especially junior high students, and couldn't imagine doing anything else. Junior high students are young enough to still have fun and appreciate the "silly" things, but old enough to "focus and learn" when necessary. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns regarding your son or daughter. No question is ever too "silly or stupid". I'm a parent and have been where you are... don't be afraid to ask! My goal for your child to encourage them to develop positive life skills, not just in the areas of foods and cooking but also problem solving, reading directions, working with others and developing critical thinking skills. Tools I feel will help them become a successful young adult.
Have a great year! :)
