About me:
My name is Kris Yencer and I am your child's Spanish 1 teacher. I have been teaching for 20 years, 10 at Indian Hills. I graduated from Valley High School and Simpson College. I also studied in Mérida Mexico. I am married with four boys. Nick is a sophomore at Iowa, Nate is a freshman at the University of Wisconsin Platteville, Josh is an sophomore at Valley, and Jack is a freshman at VSW. In my free time I love to watch football (my kids and the Hawkeyes), read, and hang out with family and friends.
About Spanish 1:
Spanish 1 is a high school non credit course. We cover many topics. Some include: food, school, family, health, and sports. We focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing by doing visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities. Below I have attached the syllabus that gives more information about Spanish 1 and directions to help you navigate the book's website. The Text book used is called Realidades. There are many resources that can help review vocabulary, games to practice concepts in class, and test/quiz review. Also, the students will sign up for google classroom where they will have access to anything that is handed out in class. To visit the textbook website click here.
